Artist Statement

Picture
As a high school art student, I enjoy making physical media, such as clay sculptures, block prints and drawings. However, as part of my DP Visual Arts class, I'm constantly pushed towards new and different media, some outside of my comfort zone. I enjoy this process though, as it broadens my skills and creates growth.  Currently, I make artwork either featuring or incorporating my personal culture or experiences. I use my family and friends for inspiration frequently, believing that it makes me engaged in the creation process. I'm very passionate in what I make, striving for a product I'd be proud of.

I want to draw connections from my life to others. For artists I use as inspiration, I research not only their artwork, but as well as their lives and techniques. I focus on being reflective and open-minded, before, during, and after the creation process. I frequently look for areas of improvement in my art.
